Formulation and publishing of Science and
Technology Policy and Information and Technology Policy.
These Policies provide guidelines for Science and
Technology and Information Technology development in the
State. They were launched by the Minister for Science
and Technology, Prof Tuner Isoun. In January 2005.
Establishment of Victor Attah Digital
Opportunities Centre (VADOC)
(photo) This Centre is fitted with the state of the arts
facilities in information and communication technology.
It is designed for human capital development in
Information, Technology, Research, and Development in
science, engineering, technology etc. The Centre was
commissioned by Prof Tuner Isoun in January 2005

University of Technology (AKUTECH)

AKUTECH is envisioned to build an
academic community dedicated to expanding the frontiers
of knowledge through research, development, innovation
and interdisciplinary collaboration for the benefit of
society. It is the culmination of the vision of its
stakeholders to re-engineer and transform the social and
economic fortunes of Akwa Ibom
State through sound, practical education that delivers
skills, competencies and a ‘can-do’ mentality which are
vital to maximizing the human and natural endowments of
the State.
Establishment of a Central Research and
Development Laboratory [CRDL].
The laboratory serves as the nerve centre for research
and development in science and technology innovations in
the State. It handles quality control and quality
assurance of raw materials, finished products and water.
Provision of Information Technology
Infrastructure.
The Ministry clones and distributes Ministry of Science
and Technology (MST) computers to establishments,
schools and associations. It provides laptops to
Executive Council members and Permanent Secretaries so
that they can work effectively and with ease.
