MINISTERIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The statutory
responsibilities of ministry of science and technology
include the following:

Formation, review and
implementation of the state policy on science and
technology;

Formation,
review and implementation of the state policy on
Information Technology;
-
Promotion,
coordination and sustenance of indigenous scientific
and technological research;
-
Promotion
and administration of technology acquisition,
adaptation and transfer;
-
Installation
and maintenance of telecommunication equipment in
government offices in liaison with NITEL;
-
Establishment
of a technology data bank for the state;
-
Provision
and maintenance of computer and other related office
equipment;
-
Promotion
and coordination of integrated, (that is human
infrastructural and institutional) scientific and
technological capacity building;
-
Advising
the State Government on S&T issues;
-
Liaison
with research and industrial organizations for joint
research activities;
-
Assess
for patent rights and promotion of research innovation
and inventions;
-
Development
of a Science and Technology park;
-
Establishment of
Akwa Ibom State University of
Technology;
-
Establishment
and maintenance of relations with National and
International, public and private scientific and
technological organizations;
-
Provision
and networking government offices with internet
facilities;
-
Any
Science and Technology responsibility the State
Government may wish to assign.
