Raffia Craft Gallery/Souvenir Market

 

The market is located on Ikot Ekpene-Aba road in Ikot Ekpene Local Government of Akwa Ibom State. The market is a collection of ingenious arts and crafts works which include bags, caps, shoes, carvings etc. made from raffia and wood that depict the culture of the people of Akwa Ibom State. Also, the people of Itu are very dexterous in making cane crafts from raffia palm.

Since these arts and crafts product of very high standard/quality which are used as gifts and souvenirs, the Government is making plans to bring all the artists and craftsmen together is cluster under co-operative arrangements to open an arts/raffia crafts gallery/souvenir market for easy access and convenience of buyers (tourists and traveler) for either export or homes/gifts.
