OBJECTIVE OF THE MINISTRY
The cardinal policy objective of the Ministry is to
ensure effective dissemination of Information with a
view to properly enlightening and educating the
citizenry on Government policies, programmes and
activities. In so doing, a two-way communication
channel is created to enable Government receive
feedback from the governed. Basically, the
present administration in the Ministry desires to
professionalise the Ministry to cope with and meet the
demands and challenges of Information Management in a
democracy.
ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
For efficiency and effective administration and
control, the Ministry is compartmentalized into Five
Directorates on the basis of role specialization as
follows:

The Honourable Commissioner is the Chief Executive
while the Permanent Secretary is the Deputy Chief
Executive and the Chief Accounting Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MINISTRY

Publicity of Government activities and programmes;

Press coverage of public events and liaison with the
press for optimum publicity of Government programmes and activities;

Film,
photograph, video production and distribution;

Production and distribution of News Bulletin,
Calendars, Diaries,Books, Brochures and Posters;
-
Research, media monitoring and public relations for
Government;
-
Supervision of Government owned Parastatals under the
Ministry: Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation,
Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation and, Ethical and
Attitudinal Re-orientation Commission
-
Inter-Government cooperation on Information matters.
