1.                   Development of Tourism, Arts and cultural policy and programmes.

2.             Packaging of state culture for tourism promotion

3.              Articulation of state cultural/festival calendar

4.                 Responsibility for cultural exchange programmes (National/International)

5.           Creation and management of state Museum

6.           Conduct of AKFEST/Participation in NAFEST

7.          Supervision of council for Arts and culture, the Hotels and Tourism Board.

8.            Oversight functions over Ibom Plaza

9.            Liaison with Federal Ministry of Culture and Tourism

10.        Establishment of culture and tourism information centers in the state.

11.        Identification of the tourist attractions in the state and encouragement of their development.

12.          Creation of tourism awareness among the citizenry.

13.      Encouragement of private sector participation in the development of tourism.

14.      Discouragement of rural- urban drift through Local Government participation in the development of tourism.

15.         Preservation of cultural heritage and historical monuments

16.        Generation of employment and foreign exchange earnings through Domestic and International tourism.
