Responsibilities:

Environmental Policies and Programmes;

Waste
Management;
·
Forestry
Resources Policy development and programmes;
·
Development, maintenance and control of botanical
and zoological gardens, parks and landscapes;
· Development,
maintenance, control and preservation of wild
life and
game reserves;
·
Coordination and inter-governmental cooperation on
forestry and ecology matters;
·
General co-ordination, implementation and enforcement
of Environmental Laws and Regulations in the state;
·
Monitoring
of activities of oil serving companies operating in
the state;
·
Provision of
research, technologica l and technical assistance
to public and private bodies engaged in the protection
of
the environment.
·
Liaison with
the NNPC, the DPR and other allied institutions and
Agencies on Petroleum and Condensates matters;
·
Regulation,
harmonization and co-ordination of the activities of
environmental groups and practitioners with the State.
·
Development
of Oron Museum Gardens.
· Streets

Erosion Control/Drainage
In order to achieve the
above stated responsibilities, the Ministry became
stratified into six (6) main departments, namely:

Divisions, Internal Audit, Information Unit are
directly under the office of the Honorable
Commissioner.
