State Hospital Management Board
It is necessary to know that in Akwa Ibom State,
secondary health-care delivery is managed by the
State Hospitals Management Board – a body
established by an Edict No. 15 of 1996 to mange all
government secondary healthcare facilities in the
state including Voluntary Agency Hospitals either
taken over or controlled by government. Secondary
healthcare facilities in the State has 42
institutions made up to 12 general Hospitals, 7
Cottage Hospitals, 8 Comprehensive Health Centres
and 9 Voluntary Agency Hospitals.
