Responsibilities

 
His Honour, the Deputy Governor was sworn in on July 8, 2005  and was assigned the following Ministerial responsibilities:-

1. Deputizing for the Governor whenever the need arises 

2. Matters of inter-State Relations on Boundary Problems

3. Chairman of State Boundary Committee

4. Supervision of:-

   1. State Boards and Parastatals

   2. Project Evaluation and Monitoring Agency

   3. Akwa Ibom State Sports Council

   4. Ibom Stars Football Club

State Boundary Matters

The State Boundary Committee was set up in the first quarter of 2000 with the following as Members:

1. Chairman of State Boundary Committee.

2. Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice

3. Hon. Commissioner for Lands and Housing

4. Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs

5. The Commissioner of Police

6. The Hon. Special Adviser, Political & Legislative Affairs

7. The Director, State Security Service (SSS).

8. The Permanent Secretary, Deputy Governor’s Office – Secretary

9. The Surveyor-General, Ministry of Lands, Uyo.

10. The Director, S.S.D.

11. Chief (Barr.) E. E. Eneyo - Resource Person

12. Late Mr. O. P. Ekereuwem - Resource Person (who died in November 2001)

Interstate Boundary includes Akwa Ibom State border with Abia State and Akwa Ibom State border with Cross River State. Most of the border communities with other States have been designated special development areas, where the State government is executing a number of developmental projects and providing basic infrastructure.

The State Boundary Committee also within the period, mediated over a number of intra-state boundary/land disputes. Most of these disputes have been peacefully resolved while some are still being handled by the Committee.

Supervision of State Boards and Parastatals
There are two boards in the State that have been making reports to the Deputy Governor’s Office. These Boards are:

1. Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation

2. The Agricultural Loans Board

Project Evaluation and Monitoring Agency
This Agency has not been established three years into the life of the Administration.

AKWA IBOM SCHOOL SPORTS

The magic of this Administration achievements in Schools Sports Development started when on Tuesday, 5^th May 2001, His Excellency, the Deputy Governor convened a meeting with the following:

1. The Hon. Commissioner for Education

2. The Chairman, SPEB

3. The Chairman, SSEB

4. The Director School Sports AKS

5. The Ag. Director of Sports AKS

6. And other Sport loving people and asked the big QUESTION of how we could resuscitate School Sports in the state.

At the meeting it was agreed that since His Excellency was saddled with the responsibility of being in charge of sports in the State, all arms of Sports in the state come under his direct control. From that time, school sports began to breathe a new life.
